Meet Beethoven. He is Dervin’s little brother. They were living at a shelter and were not being treated well at all. Both were getting physically abused. He has never been to school until joining the J House. He is the smartest of the group according to Berdy!
Meet Dervins. When he came to J House he could not even write his own name. He came from a shelter with his brother Beethoven where they were both abused.
Meet Emmanuel. He does not have a dad and his mother could not take care of him. He lived in the ghetto in a place called Port au Prince. He is very smart, loves math, and wants to become a pastor!
Meet Jikerson. He has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He used to be a “sitter” for goats all day long while other kids would go to school. He is the last boy of his family.
Meet Ovenson. He is the oldest in his family. He worked in the fields helping farmers in order to get food to eat. He worked very hard even at such a young age. He also was a “sitter” for goats to make money and receive food.
Meet Wangley. He has 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He is from far away in the city, and his family could not take care of him. You cannot even drive a car to where he lives. He walked 2 hours before he got a bus to come to J House. He loves to dance and laugh!
Meet Wolson. He is the oldest of the J House boys! His mom died when he was young and his dad is an alcoholic. He is very helpful around the house to Berdy, acting as the oldest brother and setting a good example.
Meet Youroiclev. He used to help with construction so he could get food to eat and also used to be a “sitter” for goats. He used to walk for hours just to get a drink of water. He is a very hard worker and dreams of being an engineer.
